I agree with Tom, Lillias. You sure found the perfect image!

Another try with a fall colour photo taken on a dull day - selected the sky, inverted it and used a cobalt iron gradient set to soft light, then on the sky selection used a blue gradient set to normal and selected to match the reflection colour. Finally used some overall adjustments in Camera Raw. Maybe a bit over done but if the weather doesn't cooperate you have to compensate! Here's the After and Before. Tony

Tried another following the tut. Replaced the sky first. For my next one I want to try a landscape/seascape similar to what Sepiana and Tony have done and choose my gradient accordingly.

Tried another following the tut. Replaced the sky first. Very nice, Helen. Great choice of autumnal colours.

The added warmth really transforms your image Helen!

Thanks Tom. Used a photographic gradient and Gradient map. Lensbaby lens capture. Original on left.

Used a purple/black gradient to enhance sky/silhouette.

Here is another one of my (many) rather boring photos that I think benefits from this treatment. Nothing was done other than to apply the tutorial. No great shakes, but definitely an improvement, and with little effort (which is the point!)

This was the image I chose for the tutorial.. Carried out the steps, the only variation being the angle of the gradient fill. Here is the result.. Thanks for that Tom. It gave me a good tour of layers. Not something I've worked with very much, so good experience for me.

Thanks Helen - Carving the subject out of the background took some care but it was absorbing to do and the sort of thing I like.
