I can't say how disappointed I am that I can no longer open photos directly from PSE ...its driving me nuts anyhow ...here is my issue I get a daily TEXT msg from my niece of my new great nephew (he's adorable) ... every day I right click and SAVE to PHOTO LIBRARY if I (MAC user) click on the photo ICON on my dock I can see all the photos but I cannot right click and open them in PSE however if I click OPEN in PSE and then select PHOTOS from the menu on the left ... not all the photos are there does this make any sense where are my photos ?? pse 13 is on sale at costco for 50 bucks ... I have 12 ... I wouldn't normally upgrade this round ..but if this is FIXED in 13 ...it may be worth it thanks

I'm not a Mac user, but I've gotta say this sounds more like user error than a problem with the program. Hopefully, someone with a Mac will come along soon and be able to point you in the right direction.

I agree that it sounds like a problem with your system and not something that would require you to upgrade to version 13. However, I'm not a Mac user, so I'm afraid I can't offer much help. Hopefully one of our Mac users will respond.

I am not a Mac user either but this doesn't look like it is an Elements problem.
What do you mean when you say? "cannot right click and open them in PSE"
Is Elements not displayed in the list? If Elements is not listed, did you try the "Other" button?

I am a Mac user, following your procedure I right clicked a photo from my mail account. I am attaching a sequence of screen shots to show you the options I got. I don't see SAVE TO PHOTO LIBRARY. If instead of opening the attachment I want to save it I have these save options:I chose Downloads to see if that would give the option you were looking for.If I were saving a picture from an email I would just right click and save to my desktop. I could then put it in a folder or open it in the editor of my choice. Let me know if this is helpful or if there is something else we need to try.

I had this problem. Somehow I managed to "delete" the .jpg ending of the file, and the photo got "invisible". How I managed to do that, I'm not sure.
Well, the photo would'nt be treated as a photo, and will not open in any photoediting program.

I don't use Photo on my Mac. I think that may be what's happening here. When I had Aperture I could set PE to open as my external editor. I just checked Photo. The preferences are very limited with no option for an external editor. There was something you could click to have imports go to your photo library. I think if you untick that you will be able to save them to a folder on your desktop. From there you would be able to right click and open with PE. See if that works for you.
Marianne.....are you using Photos?

riandei,
As I said before, I am not a Mac user. However, I believe Helen is on the right track here concerning Photos and Elements. Please check this thread in the Apple Support forum.

Riandei, I understand your disappointment. I'm sorry there was no magic answer. I think a lot of people feel that Apple is ignoring the needs of photographers.....both professional and amateurs.

In the new update iPhoto was replaced with Photos. I don't use neither, but I think a lot of people was disapointed. I think there's a way to get it back, though.
