So the 'Full' & 'Upgrade' versions are the same, but you can only get the 'Upgrade' if you already own a previous version. But if the 'Full'' version is half the price of the 'Upgrade' then it makes no sense to purchase the 'Upgrade'!

But, then, as I said before, I don't believe this is Adobe doing it; it is Amazon. They need to get those copies of Elements 13 out of the door before Elements 14 gets here. Only Amazon knows the marketing reasons for their pricing.

Bayla, I have assumed Amazon discount 'standard', just as a seller can determine their own discounts on any item. The Upgrade will be determined by Adobe, I presume, and therefore not available at a discount. I've always bought mine, v11 and v12 at a discounted price, from Amazon and there's been nothing wrong with the product. I've just ordered it this afternoon, from Amazon at £34.99 as I see no reason to do so. It does mean that I have a disc for both v11 and v12 and expect to have a disc for v13 too! They can all be installed on same machine at the same time seemingly. I've had both v11 and v12 on my PC together I say 'go for it'

Each version of Elements is an independent one; multiple versions can be installed on the same computer. I have five versions of Elements all living in harmony on the same computer.
It may be a good idea to keep another version(s) of Elements installed along with version 13. 32-bit plug-ins won't work in Elements 13, a 64-bit application. Also, keep in mind that back in Elements 12 Adobe removed several features.
What features from previous versions are not available in Adobe Photoshop Elements 12?

Well I 'went for it'! At that price it was silly not to! As it happens I've never bought an upgrade yet cos I've always purchased a) in the USA where it's worked out cheaper, and b) bought it just prior to a new version coming out. I've never felt the need to continually upgrade to the latest version!

Good for you, Bayla! Like you say, at that price, it's silly not to buy it. That was my final deciding point!!! So, another learning curve imminent My poor brain! Julie

I've never felt the need to continually upgrade to the latest version! Neither did I . . . until some friends of mine asked me to teach Elements to their kids. The word went around and now I am getting regular customers. And you know how teenagers are; they have to have the latest of everything. So, I need to keep up with them.

I upgrade for the fun of it. Don't usually see much difference because I don't do complicated stuff with PSE.
I'm not upgrading right now because I don't know if I'm going to have a PC or Mac when I get my new computer. Part of me wants to stay Mac, but the other part of me doesn't see my Mac as a big upgrade from my PC, so I don't know if it pays to spend so much more for a Mac than a PC. The other part of me doesn't want to bother going back to PC if I need to learn another new OS - my brain doesn't like change anymore.
Too bad you no longer get both versions in a nice box like I did when I purchased PSE11.

Too bad you no longer get both versions in a nice box like I did when I purchased PSE11. Jan, Adobe has stopped selling the boxed version of Elements only on their website. The boxed version, which contains both the Windows and Mac versions, is still widely available through their authorized local and online retailers.

Too bad you no longer get both versions in a nice box like I did when I purchased PSE11. Hi My PSE v13 arrived this morning, from Amazon, and it was in a box with both Windows AND Mac versions Ha, now I've got v13, I put the disc in to install it and, would you believe, my CD/DVD doesn't 'autorun'. Since I last formatted my PC, not that long ago, I was aware the CD/DVD wasn't 'seen' my the PC in Windows Explore but discs would usually autoplay and I'd get a window asking what to do with it. For some reason, the PSE disc didn't autoplay. So, I'm now copying it to my laptop hard disc and will then, hopefully, copy it to a flash drive so I can install it on my PC. What a palaver, eh? Such a roundabout way to install some software to a PC! Bayla, has yours arrived today? I hope your installation is easier and less of a palaver than this? Julie

For some reason, the PSE disc didn't autoplay. Hi Julie, You should be able to easily turn on autoplay by going to your Control Panel searching for Autoplay and turning it on. EDIT: and if your PC no longer "sees" your CD/DVD drive you might wish to give these steps a try to get it back

Thanks Simone I sorted the DVD bit out by deleting it in Device Manager and then restarting the PC, so all is well with that now. I don't know why I didn't think of it before So, I'll be able to install v13 soon, from the disc, when I can, but something else has come up just now!!! Typical, eh? I've also got it on usb too, now Thanks very much for your suggestion though.

Julie Yes, it arrived yesterday, but as dh & I are away until the weekend I won't get a chance to put it on my pc until Sunday. Hopefully the installation will be plain sailing. Hope the leap from 9 to 13 doesn't tax the old brain too much! Bayla

Hope you're on holiday and not something else less enjoyable I started with v11 so each new version hasn't been a problem. I'm sure that, with the experience you already have and an understanding of the concepts, you will pick it up very quickly. Also, you have loads of experienced users here who have the skill of explaining well We're so lucky to have this help.
