I think this woman is pretty great, would like to try some of the things she does. I've poked around in Elements a little bit and can't do it, maybe it can't be done, but here is one example, at the link below, seems to be some selective coloring, wondering if this is something we can do with Elements? I have Elements 10. 1x.com/photo/45163/all:user:3486

Hi pwahl , I think it is very doable in Elements. My first thought was that the image was desaturated and then a gradient layer applied. Let's see what others think.

pwahl,
I am going to take a guess, a wild one.
This effect may have begun in the camera. She may have used the "panning" technique to create an abstract composition. Either that or she did it in post-processing by using one of the Blur/Motion filters in Elements or Photoshop.
The color effect may have been done with a Gradient Map adjustment layer (not a Gradient adjustment layer). Something like this.

The consensus seems to be Gradients of some sort, I'll look those things up and give them a try. Pete, I'll try that, I wonder how proprietary people like to keep things like that. I think I might be a little protective of my tricks, if I knew anything that is.

Thanks for drawing attention to this photographer, really like her stuff.
Hope you get somewhere with your experiments.

Just saw this...helping me to understand just how useful those gradients can be!
