Well, Tom, my excitement was short-lived. I crashed also. I've posted a question over in the QTR Yahoo group, where you spotted the program I'm working with 
As for my photo technique ... check out the tab on my website that's labeled "technique". It's actually a carbon ink process. It doesn't smear, but if you rub it, the rub mark does show. I usually spray a fixative on the print if people are going to handle it... if I'm mounting the photo in a frame I don't need that protection. The black are indeed rich, but still not quite up to a darkroom print. That's the quest for us carbon print types! I use a matt paper, some folks are getting better blacks with a glossy paper. But I find my blacks are black enough, especially if I display them indoors under warm gallery lights. I can direct you to a couple of websites if you'd like.
Thanks for your help... you brought me a little closer to a solution! And I've enjoyed your photos as well... this may sound strange but I don't fully understand a good use of color.
