Thanks Sepiana, I basically used step and repeat in photoshop. This can be done manually in Elements. Each layer is 80% of the previous and turns an additional 10%. Here is the part of the layer stack. Frank, thanks so much! I am in awe! You did it via "Step & Repeat". Very clever!
As a side note, . . . I was checking some tutorials by Scott Kelby earlier this afternoon and, as a coincidence, I came across this one (which I bookmarked for a rainy day).

A little droste - made from the image Frank, great thinking out of the box! The Droste effect is perfect for this image and . . . you nailed it.
I am going to put you on the spot (again). How did you do it? Did you use the Pixel Bender plug-in? I love the Droste effect but I don't seem to be able to get it right. I tried Pixel Bender (in PS CS5) a few times and gave up.
Sepiana, if you are still interested in the Pixel Bender Droste Effect, there is an excellent tutorial for it :
www.diyphotography.net/ho-create-droste-effect-mesmerizing-animated-gifs/
Scroll about halfway down the page to get below all those images. There is a step by step checklist of what you need to do.
When I first tried to figure it out I felt the same as you until I found this tut. There is also a great deal of other interesting info.

I duplicated the original, flipped it, combined with the blendmode of difference and applied to a t-shirt with a displacement map.

Rita Rita, thanks! I will check that tutorial. I am still interested in the Droste effect. Unfortunately, the Pixel Bender plug-in is not compatible with PS CC. I used it when I had PS CS5. I guess I will need to reinstall this version (if I can find the disk).
