bailey and Whippet, are you saying that with your ad blockers you do not see the banner ads at top and square ads at the bottom of this forum? I am using the built-in ad blocker of my browser, but had to exclude this site because it also prevented me from using some of the features available to members only. Rita , I use Adblock Plus (free) and do not see any of the ads here. It has no effect on functionality. What browser are you using? |

Thank you all for your help and advice. I learned a lot about blocking ads which I simply took for granted up to now.
The forum tools I was referring to are the 3 features at top right of posts, I mostly use IE because I like its Bookmark structure best.
I have reset the built-in ad blocker and no longer get alerts, perhaps it had slipped it moorings.
Downloaded and read up about Adblock Plus so I can install it in case of any more trouble. Ublock is not available for IE.

Rita - Sorry - could you be more explicit? Which 3 features? Quote, like and the wheel thing. I can't remember whether they were not there or just didn't work. It was quite a while ago, when the forum was first started. That was when I exempted this site from the blocker.

I can't imagine an ad blocker would have anything at all to do with those features.

Major Major,
there is only one thing on my entire computer that I understand: Photoshop.
Everything else I have to do is a combination of enigmatic manuals, Google results, guess work and luck. It is therefore entirely possible that I have or had some totally idiotic setting that was interfering in what I thought I was doing.
When I'm absolutely stuck, I sometimes ask here to find out at least whether others have the same experience and that has solved a few problems in the past, but please don't waste your time trying to find an answer. It was probably all my own fault.
