Thanks for the theme Sepiana!! I didn't find much this week, but rather than going out to photograph dirt, I'll go with this apothecary cabinet from the Chinese garden this morning.

I found this old mounting block standing incongruously on a traffic-filled road at the top of Shooters Hill, a main thoroughfare through southeast London. No doubt the block was used for remounting your horse after climbing the hill.
At first sight, not a lot to see - but this is a very rare survival, a Bronze Age burial mound which has somehow managed to survive all the building as southeast London expanded. It dates from 2,600 to 2,700 B.C. and I feel confident that of all the contributions you receive on this week's theme, this will be the oldest, if not the most picturesque.
Brenda
Brenda, what an interpretation of Anything Old! And one with a history! I love how you incorporated the "new" urban area in your shots. It emphasizes the age of your subject.
I am curious. Do you know how that old mounting block came to be on that spot? Does it serve any purpose? It is fascinating to see something like that in an urban setting.

Bill, a very wise photographer's decision. This is beautiful! I love how you captured all the texture details on this piece of furniture. Great tonal range!

He loves me - with all his heart - in pain - a little - or not at all (well, it rhymes, sort of, in German)
My mother wore this on a charm bracelet in the 1920's, but I don't know whether it was new then or even older than around 90 years. It's just 1-1/4" long.

Rita, great shot! I love how clear the inscription is -- pretty legible. The personal history going along with this image makes it very special.

My 94 years old father-in-law's Massey-Harris 44 (2 year old photos so they are just for the discussion, not for the challenge) is still working hard on the farm at nearly 70 years old: Rick, thanks for acknowledging that these two images are just for discussion (due to when they were taken). However, I am so glad you shared them with us. They are beautiful images and they are part of your family history.

kdcintx, I would love to see shots of those (and I am sure so would our members). Here are the hood and the seat. Hope everyone had a Happy New Year. kdcintx, thanks for posting back with these two shots! Great capture! It really brought up all the details and texture on the hood and the seat. What a piece of Americana!

An old, well used paint brush. Andy, perfect for the Anything Old theme. Great capture -- detailed, sharp, spot-on focus! The portrait-orientation was a bonus.
