Hi everyone,
Would you like to participate in the Weekly Photo Challenge? Just take a photo that is your interpretation of the theme and post it in this thread.
- Your photo(s) should be your own, i.e., they should not have been taken by someone else.
- Photoshopping is allowed but should be kept to the basics only rather than a total transformation.
- Grab your camera, experiment, and, most of all, have fun.
NOTE
I am assigning no theme this week. It is your turn! Pick a theme which appeals to you, grab your camera, and capture something which will be an interpretation of the theme you chose. Also, let us know what your theme is and how your image relates to it. Have fun!

This week I have been asked to photographically document the removal of a tree that has overstayed its welcome at our local church. It's a pity, because the tree has been there since before day 1 of the church but over the last few years has been dropping branches and leaves onto the church roof necessitating in very costly repairs.
These 2 guys are absolutely amazing in the way they go about their job and to watch. The theme is hopefully self explanatory.
These photos are just a small selection of the 150+ photos I took earlier today (Monday, Australian time). |

Sad about the tree. They should have built the church further away from it.

Trees.
I love them. So many different shapes, sizes, textures, foliage. Magnificent.
This particular one is my favourite. Luckily, it is near to where I live.
A lot of the branches are thicker than other trees, trunks.

We arrived yesterday in Kentucky and today visited Mammoth Cave. This gave me the idea for a theme - somewhere to visit. Easy when you are away on holiday. Dennis  |

Great story, great pictures. Your church members should be delighted at the results. Sad about the tree. They should have built the church further away from it. Thank you whippet. The story is that the church, built 38 years ago, was deliberately built next to the tree. It was meant to be some sort of feature. I am sure it was also much, much smaller then than what it has grown to today. The plan is to keep a large section of the main trunk and use the wood from it to build a new cross and place it where the tree was. So although the tree is gone, it "lives on" through the new cross. |

@ hmca - That is beautiful. I do not swear, but this is the exception. I am going to use two four letter words. Hard Work. It has taken me three sessions over two days to cut my lawn.   Another theme - which takes no explaining. It's a dogs life.  |

Bailey, for High Wire Act,
Great story and images. You created precious documentation for the church, as well as for the whole community.
If we think of it: maybe love was found under the tree beside the church and, from there, celebrated in the church, in front of the altar...
I am sure the workers would also be happy and proud to see many of the pictures you took.

I find your tree fascinating. Every time I switch on, it draws me back for another look. Very well chosen.

Thank you Fauxtoto, I took this photo of the tree last week before the work to remove it commenced this week. There are very few original parishioners left today and unfortunately the actual reason for locating the church next to the tree is probably lost. But something along the line you suggest is probably correct. We wanted a pictorial record of the tree and what was involved to remove it, mainly for historical and archival purposes so that future generations can see and know the history behind the cross that will eventually replace the tree, as I described earlier. Before I started taking photos, I spoke to the workers to get their permission to photograph them while working (we have Privacy laws here that control that). They were vary happy to let me photograph them, especially when I mentioned to them I would be happy to give them the photos which included them for free to use on their web site or advertising material. I am glad you enjoyed the photos  |

Dennis Dennis, very interesting choice of theme -- somewhere to visit. Great interpretation of it! I noticed the photographer's reflection on the sign. Definitely a bonus!
