Hi all: I am an old git who has been taking photos for 60 years...shooting digital for 17 years. I've used Elements since it morphed from PS LE years ago but used PS full version before that when we were scanning slides. I've used PSE 3, 6, 8, 10, 11 and installed PSE 2018 today. Got my first camera when I was 12, moved to a Leica rangefinder (still have it ... somewhere) and got my first SLR in 1968, a Minolta SRT101. Bought my first digital a Nikon Coolpix in 2001 and in 2005 bought my first DSLR sticking with Minolta...that later was bought by Sony and am currently shooting the new Sony A7III full-frame. I shoot mainly outdoors .. birds and other wildlife, flowers, clouds and scenery. I live in a small town in southern Alberta out on the Plains. My wife and I spend most of the summer at our humble summer place near the mountains of SW Alberta. I am an avid fly fisherman, occasional artist and wood worker and like to hike. I manage the website for our summer place and these are my photos: cwrboatclub.weebly.com/photos-2018.htmlLooking forward to learning more and looking at your techniques and photos. Thanks, Clive Coaldale, Alberta

Hi Clive and welcome to PSE&M I am an old git as well, but took up photography about only 12 years ago now with a small point and shoot camera. I out grew that pretty quickly after about 18 months when I bought my first Canon DSLR. The things I like shooting most are landscapes and events. I am also into printing photos. I live in Melbourne, Australia and come from a website development/programming and database administration background in what seems like a previous life time now. You mentioned you manage your summer place's website. If you are reasonably familiar with HTML and CSS, this forum supports BBCODE so you are able to custom style your posts to a large extent if you wish. I use BBCODE occasionally here and give some examples to members of what can be done in my Custom Stylise Your Posts thread. I hope your experience here turns out to be enjoyable and see you in the soup

Welcome Clive from another resident of Southern Alberta; seems we are not too far away from each other.
I really like your photos on the website, a true representation of the prairies!
Hopefully you will share some of them with us here.

Thanks all...appreciate your welcomes. I'll try to contribute. Although a long-time PSE user I am a basic "levels, contrast, saturation, sharpening" sort of user and use post to support old-school photo techniques. We are so lucky to have digital capabilities. Great stuff. Small world Simone. I have lived in southern Alberta for 50 years and a zealot! Clive

Greetings Clive from the other side of the pond. I spent most of my childhood in an area affectionately known as 'Little Canada' because all the streets were named after Canadian areas. I was in Yukon Gardens.

Thanks whippet. BTW, Yukon is lovely although I've only been there in winter. The other territories (NW Territories and Nunavut) are fabulous spots and I've been to both. Love the far North. I see Dennis9 lives in Surrey. I was born in Haslemere, Surrey but been here in the colonies for 63 years.

I have never had a passport - prefer to keep my feet on terra firma. But, have always had a desire to visit Canada and Alaska.

A Warm Welcome from an older git in Ontario! I think I could probably beat you on many of your stats but I won't try! Although I've been a long-time user of PSE since #1 I have to confess to having migrated to Lightroom and Photoshop at about PSE#12 but this is still a good place to hang out regardless of the editing software you use. And I too was born in the UK - in London when the bombs were falling. You do beat me on time in the colonies though - I emigrated from Liverpool on the Empress of Canada in '69.
Tony

Thanks everyone for your kind welcome and suggestions. Tony: AHA! If you were there during the bombs, then you beat me by 3 or 4 years or so! One up for you. Empress of Australia, 1955. Liverpool to St. John, NB. CNR/CPR to Edmonton. I was 8 years. Clive

G'day Clive and welcome to the forum. You live in a beautiful part of the world. I was in Calgary last October and quite enjoyed my time there. I had a perusal of your images and was very impressed! You should definitely start up a gallery on the forum and start adding to it.
