Janice -
I got rid of the garbage but you'll have to re-insert your images.

For anyone familiar with html and bbcode you can simply get rid of the weird code by going into bbcode mode in the post editor where you can remove the weird code. Next time, I'll give it a try. Reminds me of the good old days when I used Word Perfect with the codes visible. It was easy to fix problems when I could see the code.

I still use (and swear by) WordPerfect for exactly that reason.

No problem cats4jan In case anyone is not aware, the post editor is in "Preview" mode by default. Near the bottom left corner of the post editor you can see the Preview and BBCode buttons. Simply click on the BBCode button to go into BBCode mode. Before making any edits maybe copy/paste all of the post's code (when in BBcode mode) into a text editor so you can copy/paste the original code for the post back into the post editor (again while still in BBCode mode) in case the edits don't work or look right for some reason. While making edits in BBCode mode you can click Preview button again so you can see how everyone else will see your edited post if you save it at the end. You can toggle between Preview and BBcode mode while making edits to see how they will look before saving them. After completing the edits and they look ok in Preview mode, click the "Create Post" or "Save Changes" button near the bottom right corner of the post editor.

Question for you Bailey. I had tried to follow your original directions to delete the red letters in BBCode mode. I wasn't able to select the red letters in order to delete them. So then I wondered if you made two copies to use in a text editor maybe you could try to delete the red letters in one of the copies? If you can follow me....would that work?

Without seeing a screenshot of the post with red letters in both preview and bbcode modes it's hard to say what their source is and whether they are just plain text or in an image that has somehow been inserted by the hosting Web site or even something else.
If they were just plain text then you should have been able to delete them. Maybe they were part of an image in which case you have to delete the image code from the post. The image would most probably be part of an img html element.
Without screenshots or more info on their source I probably can't help much more.
With the information I can see in this thread I feel like a hypothetical doctor with someone saying to me they feel sore, with no further info, and then being asked if an aspirin will fix it.

Major Major , thanks for coming to the rescue! I knew you would know what to do.
cats4jan , I did a quick checking of your posts and found another instance of re letters/numbers.
Following on Craig's steps, the problem is now fixed.

It would be interesting to know if the letters were plain text, part of an image or something else.
I have had no problem removing text and links that imgbb sometimes add to the code for images I upload here via bbcode mode of the post editor.
The admins have access to the code stored in the database for each post. If not they should have. That is my experience.
I have access to only the bbcode of my posts just like every ordinary member has access to only their code.
With admin access to the code in the database and the source code for the Web page, these types of minor issues are usually very easy to rectify.
Members can fix most issues for themselves via bbcode mode if the issue is accessible via bbcode mode, otherwise anyone with admin access should be able to fix the problem.
