Helen, you have definitely succeeded in a painted look. The sunset effect and highlights on the rocks add a lot of interest. The foreground is very peaceful. Nice job. I agree...

Just one more - having seen Helen's which was nicely done I had to try Topaz Impression with an earlier B&W - used one of the Soft Sketch presets and then some further tweaking in Lightroom.

That has a nice charcoal look, Tony. I like it a lot.

All the submissions are very nicely done. What I like about Helen's take (painted look) and Tony's take (charcoal look) is that the lighting leads the eye naturally around the composition and points of interest. They both convey the mood, mystery and drama of this ancient coastal landscape and invite the viewer to reflect. Well done!
Kind regards Chris

First I would like to say that I'm glad you enjoyed editing one of the images that I use when I teach my Photoshop class. My three selections for their edit( in random order): Tonyw for his B&W edit. Great B&W edit with excellent details and contrast. Helen for her wonderful interpretation of a water color. Lillias for this wonderful creative take on the image. I would like to thank everyone who took part in this creative challenge and for sharing the information on your edits.

Thanks Frank - you posted some really good ones too! Especially like those sun rays in both colour and black and white. You certainly picked a great image that shows off the benefits of having a RAW file to work with. The location looked vaguely familiar - do you recall where it was?

I agree with Tony. I especially liked your color edit and also wonder where your image was taken, Frank? Thanks for including my edit and congratulations to Tony and Lillias. Fun challenge!
