Nicely done ritage. Very painterly, a believable watercolor for sure!

As Miss Fletcher said in 1957 in Grade 5, " Does not follow directions well." Added a blotchy background layer and fiddled using watercolor "artistic" filter a couple of times. Looks more "fake" than the good examples posted here. "Original" is below. Fishing floats, Nova Scotia, June 2011.

Sorry Sepiana. I did get further this time. But it is at masking that I seem to lose it. This is what I have tried with 'guided' in Elements + extras. Still nothing like, I know.

Sorry Sepiana. I did get further this time. But it is at masking that I seem to lose it. whippet, I believe you are talking about Step 9 in my notes -- Add a layer mask > Alt+ > black mask. Here is a more detailed version of this step. Add a layer mask to the layer group but, before you do so, press and hold the Alt key. This will give you a "Hide All" mask, a black one.
If you want to refer back to the part of the video where he talks about this step, start the video around the 4:03 mark.

Efforts temporally suspended. Strained neck. Sorry to hear that Margaret. Hope it's not too bad and you are back in action soon.
