Sepaina, the texture and frame add a nostalgic look to the old car. Very nice.

Thanks fotofrank. Nice effect. Definitely usable. I am doing something wrong as when I apply the "soft light" blend the original background image (in this case, the mule deer) there is a cast of orange from the leaf texture layer. I merely used a soft edge eraser brush and erased the light interference. Perhaps too much feathering? Thanks, Clive

Variation on a theme.
I used a photo of a solitary now goose and for the textured BG used a mass of snow geese in flight. This is somewhat a variation on your intended objective fotofrank, but could be useful. Thanks. Snow goose from last spring ... actually my birthday, April 8. A memorable day!

Clive....like your idea to use the leaves in the background. Looks great backing the deer.
Sepiana.....that looks terrific! I especially like the leaves overlapping the sketch pad.

For Clives comment
I am doing something wrong as when I apply the "soft light" blend the original background image (in this case, the mule deer) there is a cast of orange from the leaf texture layer. I merely used a soft edge eraser brush and erased the light interference.
In the tutorial I have you convert the texture to Black and White, make your selection and blur the selected area making them gray. The soft light blend mode, along with the others in the group, ignores gray and will apply the texture to everything except the gray. If you are using a color texture, you need to desutrate the selected area and then blur. The blurred area will be will ignore the texture and not do any color shifting.
I hope that helps.
