It was the Lincoln Memorial for me. I just wish I'd framed it better, but it was a take the shot or lose it situation. The place was crowded, and this little girl just happened to be there for an instant when I could catch her all alone, looking up at the Gettysburg Address. No time to back up to get the whole composition, but I still love the idea.
The Vietnam Memorial was important for me personally, because that was "my" war. I was never levied over there, but I served on active duty in 1970 and 71 and had many friends who did fight, some who never returned.

Thanks for sharing your favorites. It is our connection to our images that make them so meaningful to us. And I agree, sometimes it's better to get the shot you can, rather than miss it all together.

Perfect composition at the Lincoln Memorial. The little girl makes the photo speak. I really like the reflections in the Vietnam Wall. It looks ethereal and 3 dimensional. That's a priceless shot of the grandnephew.

This post was originally created by alexrI too am not comfortable taking people in the street, but a couple I think I got away with earlier this week during a short trip to Florence... Choices: It's behind you: Both initially processed in Lightroom then converted in Silver Efex (Fine Art preset).

You certainly did, alexr. I especially like your second composition, with the figure small in the frame and the interplay of light and shadow. Your titles are interesting and were will chosen. I had hoped this challenge would have gotten more submissions, maybe your entries will prompt some other members to submit a photo for this theme.
