Thanks for introducing some creative editing to to this post, Lillias. I had thought that Pat's image would inspire the creativity that so many of our members are known for. I especially like the way the clipping mask sets off the image from the background.

I started with the original file this time. Tried another crop. First I converted it to a sketch using the minimum filter. I placed over my new color version and adjusted the opacity. I then took it into Topaz Impression 1 and used the Watercolor 5 preset.

I used a severe crop to make the lighthouse stand out.. I used the following NIK filters; remove color cast, polarization and contrast filter. I also use Neat Image to remove noise in the sky and I sharpened the freighter with the high pass filter. Added a slight vignette.

Took into Smart Photo Editor and applied the Jump back in time filter by Texan. Back in PSE used the Luminosity blend mode to blend the altered image together with the original. Created a stamped layer and introduced a clipping mask by Tiramisu. Added a creamy background. Like the way you created this it's really nice.

Pete x 2.....I really love seeing the different takes on this image. PeteB, your editing choices have given a completely different feel to the image. Peterj......your sky was a nice choice for enhancing the original image without changing the overall weather conditions.

I went the easy route - will try something a little more creative.Courtesy of sky replacement in Photoshop Well you picked out two dramatic ones, Judy. Looking forward to seeing what else you may have in mind, if you have time.

Another try - went with one of the vintage profiles in camera raw, did a sky replacement but at much reduced opacity and then found a vintage film filter in Color Efex Pro 4 that I rather liked - a few more tweaks and here's where I got to: Tony

To my eye, this new crop works really well in that the curve of the shore leads to the lighthouse. Your editing choices and the sky you’ve chosen reflect the ever-changing weather along the coast.

Thanks Helen - the leading shoreline to the lighthouse caught my eye too as I was playing around with the crop tool.

This was really hard to choose three versions of the image that I best liked. THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking the time to work with this image. I really appreciate the outcomes. My selections (in no particular order are): fotofrank - love the sky replacement and how well luminar made the water reflect the sky. Helen's black and white version. I love the crop and leading lines and the black and white with the sky replacement gives the image a dramatic tone. Pete B's image really focuses on the lighthouse and the colors are bold and dramatic. He was also able to make the ship in the background more apparent. I also liked the crop tonyW made in his last post which emphasized a different leading line. I'm not sure what my own final version will look like, but it will definitely be influenced by all of the images here!
