Leaning on the space bar is also a problem - been there, done that -- good thing that mistake is usually short lived when you move your arm away from the keyboard.
BTW - I knew what a tilde was, but I didn't know I had one on my keyboard because I never use it. I had to find the tab and look above it (thanks for that screenshot) -- AHA - I have a tilde above the tab key.
Didn't have a clue where the tab key was -- Guess I never use the tab either.

The tab key can be helpful when filling out multiple text boxes in an online form - like first name, last name, address etc etc.
When you finished filling in one text box, pressing the tab key takes your cursor to the start of the next text box in the sequence if the creator of the online form set up the tab function.
Most of the online forms I have come across make use of the tab function.

Caspa - thanks for the reminder. I usually mouse from box to box. Forgot the tab key existed.

Sounds like the keyboard might be giving you subliminal warnings. Yes, I agree. I can buy one in about 30 minutes of needed in a hurry. And I have at least one old, flat, awkward corded keyboard (that I despise) that can be brought into action if needed.

It took me awhile to even find the tilde key....and then I was curious about the other symbol. It is called a Backquote key. I found the following description and it took me another while to figure out what it was saying.....
How is a back quote used on a computer? Below are a few examples of how and when the back quote is used.
Note The single quote should be used in your writing instead of using the back quote. In other words, use a single quote instead of a back quote when writing the apostrophe in words like "don't" and "I'm."
When used as an accent, the grave accent indicates pitch, stress, or tone of a letter. How it's used varies by the language. In some programming languages, the backtick can be used for command substitution. For example, below is an example of Perl code that uses backticks to execute a system command and load the command output into an array. @files = `dir /b c:\windows\temp`;
....and now my brain hurts........

"and now my brain hurts........" 😊😊 Life was so much easier when never knew this stuff, eh, Pat? I knew nothing of the backquote until 4 hours ago. Life was much simpler back then. 😏 The tilde is handy and I use it quite often.
Hope you are dry.

Didn't have a clue where the tab key was -- Guess I never use the tab either. I had never used the Tab key in forever and now I use it numerous times every day........ever since I repurposed it as an F2 key = Rename I was forever having to make a specific and concentrated effort to hit the F2 and now life is so much easier since that huge, much better placed, Tab key is F2. If I ever have need of the Tab key and can't otherwise work around it, I will repurpose the F2 to be the Tab. Another huge blessing was when I changed the Caps Lock key to another Shift key. Speaking of keyboards and keys, is anyone else guilty of drifting away and typing millions of whatever letter and jerking themselves awake ages later wondering what else they may have messed up ? I fear that I am liable to make a huge unwanted EBay purchase some day when I drift away, like maybe several hundred White Women's Nurse Shoes, Size 18EE, all for the Left Foot. That is exactly what I saw at a military surplus sealed bid auction at Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania several years ago; four pallets with open-topped cardboard boxes on them about chin high, filled to the brim with White Women's Nurse Shoes, Size 18EE, Left Foot. The mates were probably in a warehouse in San Diego.

the apostrophe is on the way out. It is my understanding that they no longer teach cursive writing in school. How will kids sign their name ? A couple generations and they will be having to hire translators to read old letters they find in Granny's attic. But then, most people's cursive anymore is nigh impossible to decipher anyway.

I heard about the cursive thing - don't know if it became nationwide - I guess they figured since everyone will be typing in the future, there was no need to learn cursive. Once I learned how to type, writing anything longhand became tedious, so I can maybe see cursive isn't needed. You wonder about signatures? We don't write checks anymore and if we sign contracts, they need to be witnessed, so you can sign anything on the line and as long as it's witnessed, I guess you could put a row of z's. Notice how many apostrophes there are in the above???. I don't think I can live without them. And dashes - I use them all the time in posts. Don't take my dashes/hyphens.

The tab key is useful when working with Photoshop Elements. Press it once and your workspace will go into full screen mode when you need more real estate. Press it again and you will see all your tools come back.
Kind regards Chris
PS. Some years ago my Video/TV remote was playing up. I decided to open it up and found it was full of tea. I guess I had been careless while enjoying my morning cuppa. These things happen!

Press it again and you will see all your tools come back. And the Tab key is also useful to help you quickly cycle through your open files when this key is combined with the Ctrl key and the Shift key. Control + Tab -- Cycle forward. Control + Shift + Tab -- Cycle backward.
