I recognise that this may not go well, it certainly may be a challenge but it could be really interesting. For me, sunsets and sunrises are normally all about the colour, so it would be interesting to see just how much of the interest actually comes from the textures created by clouds or shadows. So, images taken around the time of either early morning or early evening that focus broadly on the sun and the horizon. I am intrigued by what you will each come up with; I know that I won’t be disappointed, and I expect to be fascinated.

I agree Alex, there should be some really good examples. Operationally, are we allowed to use 'shoebox' shots from the past in this challenge?
EDIT: Nevermind. I went back and read the rules and it appears to be ok. When in doubt, read the manual. ;-)

Good topic and I did go back to a very red 2017 sunset (5.15 pm on November 27th) to see what it would look like in black and white and it was quite interesting - conversion done in Topaz B&W - no longer available but I was checking to see if it still worked as a plug-in and it did. Tony

Sunsets....and the occasional sunrise are a favorite of mine. When looking through my files I tried to find some that I thought would work well for this challenge. I agree with Bill and Tony and think you have chosen a great topic for us this month, Alex. Two were converted in LR and the one with the haystack was converted using SE 3.

This was sunset in Cienfuegos, Cuba, Not a cloud in the sky; just beautiful, rich oranges and reds. Even without the color I'm taken by the tropical scene. Edited in ACR. Thanks for the theme Alex.

Thanks, alexr. Well that was fun. Chinook clouds at sunset over the Livingstone Range, 2020 Also a chinook formation across the road from our house, 2019. Cattails at sunset on the ponds across the road.

Sunsets do make for interesting silhouettes and I remembered one at Tobermory looking out over Georgian Bay a few years back so here's the conversion (done in Silver Efex) Tony

Last May there was a total lunar eclipse and because of the cloud cover it was a total flop. I stayed around to sunrise and was rewarded with a decent shot.

I realize this is NOT exactly in line with the challenge but since the cloud textures were mentioned here's a full moon captured with an abundance of clouds.
