We did not have a lot of submissions for this period, but those that came in were very interesting. Jim’s bear was entertaining, with lovely textures. FotoFrank has a knack for intriguing insects. Clive’s images are always sharp and capture your attention. Dandc had a couple of beauties as well, [trains always fascinate me as I grew up around them....]. ....and the last submission from Blackmutt is lovely, combining color and texture with an interesting subject. It was hard to cut down my choices, but this what I decided on for this period’s IOWs: Textured House Sketch by Helen – this is a lovely b/w sketch with just enough detail and texture to capture the essence of this charming house. Canal reflections by VickiD – the balance/composition in this image is excellent with leading lines everywhere and the tones in the black and white separate the trees from the water and buildings. It is a lovely image and a great model for persons (like me) who have trouble with composition. The Dunes of Assateaque by kathylee – my eye is drawn to the lines and textue of the dunes which lead into the rest of the image. The striking colors make you think this was taken in either early morning or near sundown.

Thanks for judging, Pat. It was a slow week but nice response after your call for submissions. Congratulations Kathylee and Vicki. You have shared two well seen and beautifully edited images. I had lots of fun taking pictures of that old house. I know one morning I am going to look out and see them tearing it down. All three selections will be added to the 2022 IOW Gallery.
