Frame and vintage roses generated separately. Not sure if I need to try and sort out the joins in the frame, any opinions and ideas welcome.

Here are a few that I've been playing with. Lots of interesting images Jacki. That butterfly on sheet music is a real standout!!

Frame and vintage roses generated separately. Nice result. I would probably leave the frame as it is but it depends on how much the joins annoy you I suppose. I think it's really the inner frame next to the image where any discrepancy in the joins show most and the way I would tackle that would be to draw a line on a separate layer where I thought the corner join should be and then clone the frame to suit if that makes sense.

any opinions and ideas welcome. My thought is that the frame overpowers the picture, Jacki. Plus the bottom edge of the picture could use a little space. You said that they were generated separately. My first thought was that maybe your could try to work with just part of the frame and transform it for a better fit. But I took a few screenshots and the bevels don't seem to be even around the frame. I'd probably try for another frame.....or check out the CE challenge and create your own. I do like the tone of the wood. I like the picture a lot.The picture is beautiful!

Thank you ladies, your comments have given me somethings to try. Perhaps I will try another frame, this time with a border around the roses.

Personally I really like the original frame. I think it has something to do with the wood grain and the rich colour of the wood. Also to me it looks more of an age to the painting. I think it would fit right in some of those old English Victorian homes that I’ve seen on TV where the rooms and furnishings can be quite heavy and dark.
The second frame is of a more modern type and don’t get me wrong it’s fine if only I hadn’t seen the first one...lol. I’m not a fan of the pink border round the painting in that first one though. It distracts my eye from the painting. But as Janice says it’s what you like that counts...we all have our own ideas about things and that’s as it should be else it would be a dull world.

Nothing like going back to "square one". I do prefer the original frame to the new ones offered. Another idea might be to present the image without a frame or on an easel. That being said Lillias makes a good point about old Victorian homes.

Jacki On the top image, had you considered a square frame with a white mat?

Googled to find the framing of art pieces.....you may find a look here that helps you decide.

I like the easel idea Helen, and that link also had some interesting ideas too. Lillias, the frame and painting do seem to complement each other, and I can imagine this hanging in some dark hallway of a Victorian era home.

Jacki On the top image, had you considered a square frame with a white mat? Are we talking about the very top image of the vintage roses? A square frame never occurred to me, when I’m back on my pc I’ll post the original for anyone to play with.

What really bothered me, no matter what frame you used Jacki, was that there was no breathing room at the bottom. I tried copying a smidge of the top and adding it to the bottom of the image. Played around with petals from the other small red flower on the left to add some petals to the cut off rose. Then I copied the three green leaves near the top on the right and added to the bottom right of the vase.

Here's a square version to play with. This one seems to have more space, and probably what PeteB meant, but I misunderstood.
