Jim, your apples look much more appetizing in color (but not as artsy) Yeah. I agree Vicki, but since this was a B&W challenge I thought "why not?"

Working on a golden hour shot I thought this was a decent power of three ... On1 BW filter with antique lavendar toner applied Pete, This is a good example of threes. I would do some more post processing to separate the fruit from the background leaves...either darken the fruit/lighten the leaves or vice versa or, maybe, apply a bit of a blur to the leaves. The three items should be more obvious--I had to look for them here. I do love the lavender toning...and it's a great shot.
Red - White - & Blue wreath I think this one would work much better in color. The fact that there are three colors is less obvious in black and white. Great idea to use three colors instead of three objects...converting to monochrome took away the differentiation, though. I'd love to see this in color!
The Great Auditorium from Ocean Grove Helen...we do need to get to Ocean Grove to do some shooting!!! I like this, but it could use a bit of cropping. Since the subject, threes, are about the spires, cropping at the bottom of the triangle would make it stand out so much more!

Street photography of street musicians. Silver Efex to convert to B&W.

You are absolutely right, Vicki. I often struggle with composition and cropping. I appreciate your suggestion. Sooo much better.

Street photography of street musicians. Silver Efex to convert to B&W. I agree with Helen, Pete, you do a great job with street photography. And street photography frequently translates well to Black and White. This almost looks like a drawing (which I like) and the white border works well with it.

Helen and Vicki Thanks for the nice comments. Helen Vicki’s crop suggestion of The Great Auditorium image works well. You are absolutely right, Vicki. I often struggle with composition and cropping. I appreciate your suggestion. Sooo much better. Two books that have helped me understand the rules of composition are The Photographer’s Eye by Michael Freeman and/or Mastering Composition by Richard Garvey-Williams. I often refer to these two books.

Thank You Vicky - I certainly agree the color version works much better for "threes"
Your suggestion about a blur is great

Your suggestion about a blur is great This is a great beginning, Peter. It could still use some tweaks to bring out the full potential. At least the fruits are all more distinct in this version.

Was thinking of this challenge when I took the three women walking while at the beach on Thursday.....not sure if they are big enough in the frame though.
