I am not sure how to crop this to make it look straight. Is it the bottom waves or the top waves I should align on?  |

Is it the bottom waves or the top waves I should align on? To my eye, the top lines need just a wee bit of straightening. Is that your doggo? The yellow arrow shows where the "Straighten tool" was aligned.  |

I was thinking 16X9 as well. Clive, I like that line of attack. Nope, not my dog......but I do like dogs and have a tendency to take their pictures whenever I can......okay, I admit it.....I'm an animal paparazzi......

I’ve always found these types of photos difficult to align. You have two types of lines in the water and then there is the boat. Good luck.

Pat,
Do you have a large version of this photo? i.e. one with more water in front and back of the kayak?
If so, I'd suggest a bit more empty water in front of the kayak. It's quite tight and even though the craft is stationary, it's nice to have a bit more space in front of a "vehicle" moving or not.

Unfortunately, I don't, but I am turning this into one of my "art" images, and it would be easy enough to create space.......

Here is another thought. Because of the dog's "eye lines", add space to the left side. Here I added ten percent to the left side of the canvas, placed the subject with the golden section (rule of thirds could also be used) and cropped using a pano ratio of 2:1.  |
