Today, I took 5 photos. They went into 'my pictures'. I wanted to put them on my desktop - which I have done many times before. I had them all (5) highlighted, then right clicked move to desktop (create a shortcut). Then, I couldn't believe my eyes. I think every single picture on my computer has put itself as a shortcut. This is what it looks like, and the computer won't do anything properly now. I have important folders on my desktop which I can't afford to lose. But the only way I can think of to get rid of all the shortcuts, is to do them one at a time . . . . which will take forever. I don't want to put the computer back a day, as I will lose the photos, and I have already deleted them from my camera. Is there any other solution? I would be eternally grateful if there is. Oh dear, I can't get the picture to move over to here. I may, or may not be back.

Oh no. I will not make any suggestions as I really do not know how to help you. I rarely put folders on the desktop and store everything in a complex File Explorer system. Not sure of this is of any help. Good luck.

Please keep in mind that I am a MAC user. Having said that, is it possible to open windows explorer and sort on file type and just Select the Shortcuts and delete them?

Although a shortcut was created, the photo(s) should still be in their location (My Pictures). You can double-check by right-clicking on the shortcut and selecting "Open File Location". To delete these unwanted shortcuts . . .1. Go to C:\Users\[ User Name]\Desktop. 2. Select the shortcuts you want to delete. 3. Right-click on them. 4. Press Delete. If the shortcuts are contiguous, i.e., listed next to each other . . . 1. Click on the first shortcut. 2. Shift-Click on the last shortcut. 3. All the shortcuts will be selected. If the shortcuts are not contiguous, . . .1. Click on the first shortcut. 2. Press and hold down the Ctrl key. 3. Click on the other shortcuts. 4. All the shortcuts will be selected.

Sorry about the delay. I just couldn't stand any more last night. Sepiana,do I go into 'search' on the bottom left desktop to get C: (don't have a backward slash on my tablet). I shall be back later.
