The Bluewater Bridge connecting Ontario and Michigan at the bottom end of Lake Huron. Original span was built in 1938 and it was twinned in 1997. At the time this was taken they were repainting the US side of the original span - this summer it's going to be closed for a few months while they replace some of the original parts with all traffic using the newest span - that's going to be fun! I had to post another Tower Bridge as I was born not too far away - this one taken from one of the river boats - the weather looks similar to when alexr took his one! Tony

Found this one while looking for an image for the tilt-shift challenge. Taken in Florida.

I didn't think that they needed a bridge that high in FL! But, it doesn't seem to have any connection to anywhere either? cjt

It's an abandoned rail bridge, cjt . You can read about it here.

Thanks again to everyone for submitting bridge photos in this challenge. Astoria-Megler Bridge over the Columbia River Well, Dan, you have set the bar a bit higher with this photo. Very nice B&W conversion and composition. Perhaps the cover photo for, Bridges of the United States. Question: What is the purpose of the posts? Tidal-water shellfish structures?

Thanks for the kind words Clive. Looks like, per a Google search, the pilings supported a once thriving Fish Cannery industry. If I remember correctly they are on both sides of the Astoria end of this bridge . . . the longest continuous truss bridge in North America according to Wikipedia

Just time for one more bridge? - actually 4 bridges over the Thames in London. Hungerford - a rail bridge in the foreground with the pair of Golden Jubilee pedestrian bridges one on each side and behind them Waterloo Bridge - a road bridge. Could never figure out how to remove that annoying area on the right hand side caused by a reflection from the pod I was in on the London Eye from which the photo was taken. Tony
