What does annoy me a little is the snobbery of some people that if you use a phone you're not a real photographer. There is enough snobbery in photography already, and that stance is a little old fashioned in my mind. Ah yes. This is a thorny subject. The main "target audience" should be the photographer: if he/she is happy then that is great. What annoys me about both SLR/mirrorless photographers and smartphone users is glowing adulation about poor-quality photos no matter how it was taken. This is not new to digital. I recall over 50 years ago when I belonged to a camera club and people would swoon over (say) a photo of a sunset or pretty rose flower when in fact it was a horrible photo but had pretty colors...nothing more. Yet the photo was out of focus, tilted, blurred, cluttered, etc. So not a lot has changed other than most people have smartphones and take a lot of photos. There are far more great photos today than years ago and there are also a lot to bad-quality photos. I tend to be snobbish when it comes to image quality and that is an old-school trait. I just like stuff done right. I am pleased to have lived long enough to use digital photography. Wow. Blows me away daily.

That's a lovely picture of your wife, one special cake, and the perfect reason for a smartphone! I would imagine it would print well with some clean-up....just a guess

It is actually a cookie, or a complex gluten-free cookie. (Willie has celiac disease.) So good. DIL ordered it. I digress ... Yes, I love my smartphone for many things. One is taking closeups of labels or instruction booklets written in bacteria-sized lettering and blowing them up so I can read them. Or taking a label photo of something in a store that my wife wants and texting it to her with a note, "This one?" Bet I am not the only one.
