Hi all,
PSE 13 continues to give me headaches: Canon lide100 scanner is not recognised by PSE 13. Scanner works via Mac OS, but whatever I do, the scanner stubbornly evades 13.
Mac OS (yosemite) will operate the scanner, so at present, I scan, save, then open to PSE. Not ideal.
file/ import procedure -which used to work in my old PSE 6, is greyed out. The same option is here in 13, it's so close to working, but, of course I am writing here as it doesn't.
Over to all you smart folks out there in the PSE&more world.

fidofoto,
Scanning in Elements 13 is different from doing it in earlier versions.
As you are on a Mac . . .
1. Go to Applications>Adobe Photoshop Elements 13>Support Files>Optional Plug-Ins. 2. Copy/paste (Option-drag) the ImportModules folder into Applications>Adobe Photoshop Elements 13>Support Files>Plug-Ins
NOTE: Do not move this folder; you need to copy/paste it. Adobe sometimes makes updates to Elements, ex.: Elements 13>13.1. These updates are what is called "point updates"; this means Elements expects to find this folder in its original location.
Hope it works!
EDIT:
Now you should be able to scan from within Elements -- Editor>File>Import>[your scanner's name].
You can also scan from Preview and send the scan to Elements. Launch Preview and go to File>Import from Scanner.

fidofoto,
You are most welcome! Glad to hear it worked.
This scanning issue has been discussed in the Adobe Photoshop Elements forum. Barbara Brundage also covers it on her blog and in her book -- The Missing Manual.
