Wondering if anyone has upgraded their NIK collection to 6? As someone who likes to keep things simple, I am wondering if their new features are overcomplicating things. Appreciate hearing your thoughts.
Thanks!

Hello Helen
I upgraded from 5 to 6 a few weeks ago.
The interfaces have been standardised a little better. The last 15 edits are saved in history for reuse. Control points have been extended to include "lines", to apply selective changes over a drawn line rather than just a point. Control points now have multiple settings sliders placed on image as well as in the adjustment frame (luminence, brightness, contrast etc)
Those are the main changes I have found.
For how I use Nik (mainly creating 4 or 5 custom effects to reuse), they are of little advantage and while not regretting my upgrade I could easily have done without it.
I think there may also have been improvements to some of the algorithms for noise reduction and suchlike but I can't say I have noticed a difference with the naked eye.

I had read the by DP Preview review and questioned if there was enough change to warrant the cost. It seemed that PS/LR coupled with NIK (which I do like and use often) pretty much made the upgrade not necessary at this time. It sounds like we use the NIK suite in much the same way. It's always nice to hear the view of one of our members. Thanks for posting, Howard....much appreciated.

Good video, Pete. Nice to see the way he used the control points. Again, TFS!
