Inspeqtor, In my PSE 2023 version they stay greyed out only until you actually click on the Type tool and then also click the spot on your work place page where you wish to begin typing. Hope that helps.

Hope that helps. Thank you Jim, Here is my FULL screen from PSE2021. In the lower left corner I have typed in the DATE of "10/12/2023" If you look you will see that the Bold/Italics/Underline/Strikethru are indeed greyed out while I typed and still greyed out AFTER I typed in the date. Another question, I do not remember the names of what I am missing on the far right side is the window for the --- dang it can't think of the word but the data that should be showing on the far right side. How do I also turn THAT on?
Thank you!

I have typed in the DATE of "10/12/2023" the Bold/Italics/Underline/Strikethru are indeed greyed out while I typed and still greyed out AFTER I typed in the date. Charles, If you want to bold your text, . . . 1. Click on the area in your document where you want the text to start. 2. Click on the Faux Bold button to activate it. 3. Type your text. I do not remember the names of what I am missing on the far right side is the window for the --- dang it can't think of the word but the data that should be showing on the far right side. How do I also turn THAT on? Your screenshot shows you are in the Basic Workspace of the Expert mode. To bring up the Layers panel, . . . 1. Go to the right bottom corner of the screen. 2. Click on the Layers button. NOTE:This "disappearance act" may happen again. In the Basic Workspace of the Expert mode, you can see only one panel at a time. For example, if you bring up the Styles panel, that's the only panel you will see. The Layers panel will "disappear". I would recommend you use the Custom Workspace instead. It will provide you with a more efficient editing process. 1. Go to the right bottom corner of the screen. 2. Click on the downside arrow next to the More button. 3. Choose Custom Workspace.

Sepiana, Thank you, I was able to make my text BOLD finally, but when I click on the Layers button, it appears below the image but not beside it. You can see it in the lower right corner. Thank you

when I click on the Layers button, it appears below the image but not beside it. Try this . . . 1. Place your cursor on the black bar (top edge of your image). 2. Hold down your cursor and drag your image to the left.

How do I now shorten the Layers panel? Your screenshot shows you are in the Basic Workspace of the Expert mode. You cannot resize the Layers panel when you are in this workspace. The Layers panel will automatically fill the Panel Bin (the entire side of the screen from top to bottom).
