Has anyone tried the new version? I'd be interested in feedback.

I have been poking around in PR 2024. There are quite a number of interesting new additions. I will comment on just one this time.
There is one item that I don't recall seeing in any other editing/cataloging/organizing software. I have folder that contains the resources that I have purchased or downloaded for use in doing composites, double exposures, and so forth. PR 2024 will let you put these into a catalog Folder and also into the Favorites. It uses a Keyword AI system to do just that. You could, of course, add your own keywords. Key here is that there is a pretty sophisticated Search system that will find all of that. I see this as being pretty helpful for many reasons.
If someone is going to explore this, I would advise setting up a folder with a few hundred or a couple of thousand items to try however. cjt

There is still an issue with the overall handling of HEIC photos. This has been going on for at least back to 2022 and has not been corrected. Sometimes photos are not correctly rotated. And I have seen some strange views of HEIC photos in Browser and then in Edit. Has not been fixed and I'm not spending anymore time battling with it. cjt

I purchased On1 RAW 2024.5 and like it a lot. I am likely to only use it for bad lighting recovery and/or noise reduction. As noted a couple of days ago, the Denoise AI is awesome. I am using it as a freestanding program. How can I install/use it as a plugin inside PSE 2023? I understand that it will be accessible in Automation Tools once stet up properly. Thanks. Clive I got this far but doing something wrong. Another low-light, high-noise example.

I don't have PE, Clive. From your screenshot I can't tell did you click choose? If you did and it doesn't show up, try closing PE and restart it again. When I download for PS I usually get a message that says something like the product detects LR....would I like to install it there? I also seem to remember that in order for it to show up you may need to open the standalone first. But since you already did that, not sure why you are not seeing it. Another option might be to sign in to ON1 and download it again. OK....so I've exhausted all my ideas.....hopefully someone else will be able to help you further.

Yes, I had (and have again) selected Choose. Now, come to think of it, I might not want On1 as a plugin that automatically opens my raw files inside PSE. I am happy with ACR and PSE for editing most of my photos. I got On1 for the tricky edits such as reducing excessive noise. It allows editing of "regions" (foreground, background, people, animals, plants, etc) separately which can be done with layers and layer masks in PSE but from what I've seen so far On1 seems to do it better. (And my layer masks skills are lacking. I will let my query stand as I would like to know, but in the end I might not want to use it "inside" PSE. Thanks.

Someone with PE might better advise you, Clive. I use On1 Effects.....I no longer use the RAW editor.

pontiac1940I seem to remember that using PR as a plugin for other editing programs requires a different version. www.on1.com/adobe-plugins/?srsltid=AfmBOoo-WlZBTs-9JfRQLzjb9fvIND6osX9lYF-76j7d5ARiOmFYF1Wk "Get the most out of your photo editing experience with the ON1 Professional Plugins, available individually or as part of Photo RAW MAX which includes all the ON1 apps and plugins in a single installation."OTOH if you think that PR has a "better" raw processer there's an option that enables a quick edit in PR then a right click on the image in browse there's an option to send to PSE. Thank you. This will work for me for sure. See screenshot. After some thought, I wrote above, "I might not want On1 as a plugin that automatically opens my raw files inside PSE. I am happy with ACR and PSE for editing most of my photos. I got On1 for the tricky edits such as reducing excessive noise." My current ACR>PSE work flow will suit for most edits. On1 is more powerful raw editing for the tricky photos. So I can edit the tough ones in On1 (PR) when needed. I'll keep practicing with On1. Lots to learn. Winter is coming. Costco has Christmas decorations already. Gulp. Thanks again.
