at the ponds across the road
When you do stuff like that it becomes evident that you ain't no soccer-mom with a cell phone.
Around here, what we call a pond is usually still as a grave; is it that windy there to make the water so choppy ?

Thanks. I try hard and have good gear. Well, even small ponds here can be rough. Your ponds are likely surrounded by trees. "My" ponds are not well protected and it can howl here. Whitecaps are not uncommon on ponds <5 acres.

and hills and a lot of our ponds are in the bottom of deep hollers.
I hadn't really thought about it before; but, I bet our hilly terrain blocks a lot of wind and I know the trees do.

That bottom photo is my favorite. I moved from my house on the pond so I’m not getting to see the annual migration. How I miss them. They are amazing birds.
You know how people say, “that photo doesn’t do it justice” - well, your photos do. And more.
I so enjoy all the wildlife photos people share

and hills and a lot of our ponds are in the bottom of deep hollers. The ponds (below) are man-made. (Drone photo...our house is the middle one.) The trees are all planted including the distance trees. There are no hollers here and you can watch your dog run away for three days. You know how people say, “that photo doesn’t do it justice” - well, your photos do. And more. Thank you Janice. I still fish a few days a year but my main recreation is taking photos: it keeps my mind and body active; I learn things; and it makes others happy. (Two days ago I did a pro bono photo shoot for a older lady who can't afford a photographer and she wanted photos of her and her son. She is thrilled ... as am I.)

HA HA HA! Well, that question is quite funny actually. I am hardly fit for 77 years but pretty active. The older lady is on month younger than me but had a hard life and somewhat disabled...she has trouble walking. She is a lovely lady and we had a great time. Best is, she is so appreciative of the photos.
