The first Thursday in the month is when we kick off the month's B&W challenge. Peaceful will be the May, 2024 B&W challenge. I am looking for photos of scenes/situations that demonstrate "peaceful" to you. I've included a couple of photos that may or may not seem peaceful to you, but they were for me. My examples were processed in ACR (even the fishing photo shot as jpg) with adjustments to levels and contrast. They were all desaturated in ACR. Most were then adjusted in PSE using the Gradient Map Adjustment layer (with B & W set as the foreground and background "colours") to do minor level tweaks to B, W and grays as needed ... to my eye. I look forward to your Peaceful B&W photos. Clive A storm had passed and the eastern sky was dark and angry. However I was standing alone on the "dock of the bay" with the late-day sun shining on the trees across the bay. It was one of the most peaceful moments I've ever experienced. As peaceful as it gets. Sometimes it is okay to not be catching fish. I recall taking this "grab shot" before I was detected. And couple sitting on a park bench at a lake after sunset. A walk in the woods.

Love your theme choice and accompanying images, Clive. This should be a wonderful thread to turn to during these troubling times.

Came up with these from the archives, Clive. One of my all-time favorite pictures...... A sunrise with a very calm ocean.....just me and my camera back when I occasionally made it to the beach for sunrise. I find it very peaceful to sit and experience the presence of God in an empty church. This beautiful church is in Florida. As a contrast, I stopped by my church on the way home today and someone was practicing the organ....it was not the solitude I was seeking.

I often find minimalist photos to be very peaceful. Shot this morning, Fuji X-T3, Super Takumar 58mm 1.4, BW in-camera. Thanks for a wonderful theme Clive.

I often find minimalist photos to be very peaceful. Agree. Like raked sand garden. Simple and peaceful. Like how the branched "sweep" to the right.

Have you all noticed how water is a common thread in the "peaceful" images? Lovely PeterjHoward ... nothing more peaceful than sleeping children. So nice. Clive
