Can't load Sony .ARW files into organizer or editor

The Sony .arw files I took on or before March 2024 load into the organizer/editor just fine.
In April 2024, I did firmware updates for my camera and most of my lenses, and now any .arw files that I take won't load into Photoshop Elements 2024 (get a message saying the format is incompatible).  ERK!!!

I have uninstalled and reinstalled both Photoshop Elements 2024 and the camera RAW file.  I also used a completely new memory card in case the old one was the problem.

Nothing has helped.

....and I can't seem to be able to contact Adobe.

(p.s. all of my Sony files before and after March 2024 load into OnOne software just fine.)

Any ideas?

Which Sony camera do you have? What is the version of the firmware update?

Someone reported having the same problem with this camera/firmware on the Adobe Community Support forum. Jeff Arola, Adobe Community Expert, posted this explanation.

Unfortunately, even Photoshop Elements 2024 doesn't install the latest camera raw update of 16.2.1, which should work with your Sony A7IV firmware 3.

He provided a workaround.
