Outdoing yourself....enjoy your new lens, Clive. Beautiful images. Thank you Helen. I am happy with it. The image quality is good. It focuses fast and up close. I do not take many photos of people but the lens obviously is great for portraits. This is my close friend Christopher.

I think we, my dad, paid $50 for a 1940 Plymouth coupe! Also, the first car I ever wrecked a year later or so! Still wish I had it! Let's see, I could maybe get a filter for that?? And no, not going to tell the year. cjt

Lovely shots, pontiac1940. From what I have read over the last few years it seems the G range is a nice balance between cost and quality. GM lenses are so much more expensive. I am also looking to fill a gap with a 28-70 zoom. The Sony kit lens is inexpensive but loses a stop or two which I want to avoid. Good luck with the new gift to yourself! It may seem extravagant but remember, no pockets in a shroud. If it brings you pleasure, it's well worth it. Howard.

Good luck with the new gift to yourself! It may seem extravagant but remember, no pockets in a shroud. If it brings you pleasure, it's well worth it. Thanks Howard. What an elegant way of saying "You can't take it with you." I'll remember that. I now own three G series lenses and one GM lens. 24-105 G, 70-200 G, 200-600 G and the 24, f1.4 G Master. The 24 GM is for astro/aurora and sharp to the edges. The extra speed helps keep ISO down with night shots. My everyday "bird-wildlife" lens is the 200-600 G. It is good lens. The G Master 70-200 is way more expensive than the G and the image quality of the new 70-200 G is excellent. Clive
