A brief weakish aurora show tonight. These were shot about 15 minutes from our summer place. This location is going to be excellent ... one day. Zero yard lights in the distance. Just amazing and so beautiful.

Fabulous....certainly don't look "weak" to me! Thanks to all. Helen cameras "see" more than our eyes but it was a decent display for a few minutes and visible to the eye. No color adjustments: just contrast and levels adjustments. The best last night was the full moon lighting the land and house. This is THE best aurora location I know of. One day we'll have great show there. Only 15 minutes from our summer place. About 90 minutes from home. It is unsafe to go alone and Rancher Kate (land owner) came with me. I've seen grizzly bears here and there are too many things to trip on in the dark.

great choice of foreground subject. Thanks Howard. This old house is near our summer place and I "found" it a few years ago. The rancher landowners are lovely people and now friends. Rancher Kate is keen on watching northern lights and taking photos with her cell phone. Kate came with me on Monday night. The background is perfect as there is some topography and no distant lights. This is the second time I've one there for aurora. The house is 200 m off a country road, but we can drive near it. I will not go alone in case of falling. (I tripped on a hole a few weeks ago.) And two years ago saw two grizzly bears just 500 metres away. It is no place to be in the dark alone.

Apart from the holes. And the bears.
