Hi everyone, Would you like to participate in the Weekly Photo Challenge? Just take a photo that is your interpretation of the theme and post it in this thread. The rules are rather simple. - Your photo(s) should be your own, i.e., they should not have been taken by someone else. - Photoshopping is allowed but should be kept to the basics only rather than a total transformation. - Grab your camera, experiment, and, most of all, have fun.

Thanks for giving me an excuse to visit Hollywood Sepiana! Well, the Hollywood district of Portland anyway. The Hollywood Theatre hosts small concerts and lectures, but is mostly still a movie house. This time of year the spooky Halloween movies start to make their runs, and it looks like this year will be no exception. Fuji X-T10 with a Rokinon 8mm fisheye.

Just happened to be visiting a town in Muskoka this week that has the oldest still operating movie theatre in the area. Opened on July 19, 1949 with June Allyson in “Little Women”, the Norwood Theatre is a fourth-generation family run cinema. And note the traditionally correct spelling of theatre Tony

There was a time when just about every small town around here had a neighborhood Movie Theater. However now most movies are housed in local shopping malls. The Atlantic in Atlantic Highlands was one of those small town theaters that we went to and took our kids to when they were little. It has reopened as a result of efforts by Kevin Smith who grew up in near-by Highlands and gained fame as a result of his movie Clerks which was based on his job at Quick Stop a local convenience store.

Bill, this building seems to be well maintained and living up to its purpose -- to show movies. Keeping the "Hollywood" spirit alive!

Tony, it is so refreshing to see a family (four generations!) keeping this treasure operating. Kudos to them!

Helen, neighborhood movie theaters like this one are becoming a relic. Good thing this one is being kept alive!
