The background fog was taken with me camera this morning, the ship I downloaded from in PSE Adobe Stock, the water wash was cuttings from holiday sea front pictures

I want to try a few different ideas for this image, this being the second one took bit of time to manipulate clouds but I think it was worth it.

I like how your ship is more defined in your second attempt, Jim. I wonder how it would look if the white cloud overlay were a little softer?

Thanks you, Helen, following your suggestion the fog in the foreground I just needed to replace some of the erased area over the clouds to soften the white.
Aww and as well there was a grey cloud shadowing under the white could, it's now shadows on top.

To be honest I'm not sure if my suggestion was helpful, Jim. Maybe someone else will weigh in.

Na that's fine, Helen. This is my 3rd idea using one of my sky images and then dropping the saturation down to give the sea affect, also I've gone half n half with the cloud bring the right side brighter. And please l free comment/suggest

I much prefer this third one tourerjim. Being able to see the sea effect makes a world of difference. The only suggestion I would make is to place your clouds behind the sails of the ship. I think that would be a more pleasing look. And I agree with one of Helen’s earlier suggestions to soften the clouds. I think you could do this by means of a simple reduction in opacity.

Thanks for suggestions, Lillias, before I got started with the 1st image I had in mind what I wanted as a finish image, this being my 4th is the finishing stage so I've posted these two images one being your suggestions to place the cloud behind the boat, no other changes other than rising fog.

Nice work tourerjim. Experimenting like this with different effects and looks is all part of the learning experience. I hoped you achieved what you had in mind when you started this venture because that's what matters.

Thank you, Lillias, I've had a long condition that creeps up on me very so often and woke up this morning with another attack of Shingles like symptom, I'll have to finish off when I'm wee better.
