Hi-Cab American 9310 "Sky Horse" Lattice Boom Crawler Crane
Sitting on the barge dock at Kinder Morgan.
Take note of the very rare ultra-high operating cab; this allows the operator to see over obstructions and to see down inside such things as barges; with a normal cab, most crane operators are working blind and must rely on signals and radio communication from the ground crew.
Headquartered in Wilmington, North Carolina, American manufactured crawlers, derricks, and lattice boom truck cranes which are still in use today.
In 1998, American Crane Corporation was acquired by Terex and produces crawler cranes branded as Terex American.
Here is where she sits: 38.316519 -85.664025 135.9408 m 446'
The trees are on a long slender island that separates a narrow channel from the main-stream of the river.
Upstream/East is left; Downstream/West is right. The Crane Block
This easily weighs twice as much if not more than the car you drive.
It looks huge up close, but looks miniscule hanging up there in the sky.
This particular block controls the angle/pitch of the boom; and, by so doing, makes the top end of the boom either closer or farther from the ground.
Take note that the four upper cables are fixed and never change in length.
