painting with PSE 10 tools

I am looking for resources/instructions on what filters and tools to combine in PSE to create the best painterly looks. I am experimenting more with the paint blend modes, certain filters to exaggerate lines and stretch and blur tools. 

But, some study helps/tutorials on that topic would certainly help to speed up the process.   For instance which blur tool + which filter(s) combined with witch blend modes create what effects?  etc. etc.

I did post a question a couple of days ago about free or cheap paint apps (to which I did get some really good feedback), but I really would like to explore the manual application of PSE capabilities PSE a little further.

You may want to check these tutorials. They are written for Photoshop but can be done in Elements with little or no tweaking.

NOTE:  The last tutorial includes creating an action in Photoshop.  Elements cannot create actions.  Just skip the instructions to create an action.

As to books -- I have this one.  I highly recommend it. It is written for Photoshop but the tutorials can be done in Elements with very little tweaking or none.
