Getting photos to appear as thumbnails instead of jpg icons

Running MacBookPro OSX 9.5

Import jpg photos from camera, then to iPhoto.  At this point they are thumbnails.  After working on them in PSE6, they most often appear as jpg icons, not thumbnails.  But not always.   How can I make sure all appear on desktop as thumbnails.  I don't know what I am doing wrong.

Any help appreciated.

I am not a Mac user so I don't really know if the suggestions below will help.

Please, try the following:

- Right-click on a JPEG file and choose "Get Info"

- In the "Open with" menu of the "Info" dialog, select "Preview" app

- Click "Change All" button to apply the app choice to all JPEGs

Right click the jpeg, click on Show View Options then check Show Icon Preview
