Hi All Thinking of purchasing Topaz Impression and Texture Effects and dowloaded both to use a day in trial before deciding. The texture effects splash screen is fine which says Welcome to Texture Effects in English but the Impression splash screen top part opens up in a foreign language. As far as I can tell there is only one version to download. V1.1.2 Does anyone know why and if this is normal?
I also noticed that there isn't really anything in preferences, is that normal for this also. I am on a Mac running El Captain.

I would be suspect of downloading from this page. My advice would be to contact Topaz Support. They are wonderful about getting back to you.

Hi hmca - I didn't download from here. I downloaded it from the topaz site directly and I did look over at their support area and didn't come across anything. I'll have to take a look to see if I can find a number to call them. Thank you

I'm fairly certain that the TOPAZ Installer is one of those that give you a choice of languages. English is the default, but you may have clicked on it inadvertently and changed it. You could probably download again and still use the key they sent you already.

Thank you Rita - Impressions seemed to install differently than textures. Textures installed like all other mac programs with a dialog box explaining what point it was on during install. Impressions did not install like that. Nor did it have anything to click for language. I did try to install it again but it's the same. I contacted topaz and they had me to check my fonts but they are fine. Everything in both plugins - stand alone are all in english its just weird that the splash screen in impressions top section where it should say Welcome to Topaz Impression is not. Waiting to hear from them again to see what I can try. I just don't like it starting like that with the weird wording even though everything else seems fine in both plugin programs. I didn't purchase the license key yet and plan to but I also want to see if they can correct this before I purchase.

I may be wrong about this, but I don't think that is a foreign language. I have seen that before (rarely) when printing a PDF file. Something gets out of sync so the characters are not interpreted correctly, resulting in a different character set being used. Since the other program worked for you, perhaps just re-downloading it will fix the problem.

I thought the same thing Tom and I did redownload and its still the same. Actually I may just try it again. I also went through all fonts to check for problems. Thanks
Do any of you have Impressions? If so when you click on presences what do you have in there? There are only about 4 things to click in mine.

Jancy....Impressions is a very demanding plug-in. Did you check the system requirements? And even sometimes when your computer meets the recommended requirements there are still issues. I know it is problematic with older computers....something to do with the graphics cards if I remember correctly.
Before we got a new desktop computer I did run it on my older laptop but it was extremely slow.
When it opens there are 12 Featured Presets on the right side. At the top there is a dropdown menu where you can choose from other sets....example....Impressionistic.

On a Windows Computer Impressions requires a graphics card with a minimum Open GL 3.2. Is there some equivalent feature on a MAC?

My computer (iMac) does meet the requirements. 64 bit and 16 gigs of Ram. Impressions is slightly slower when rendering (a couple of seconds) but not intolerable at all. Textures is faster. I figured with the sale going on and the extra 20.00 credit when I clicked on Toms link they are worth getting. I have no problems either accessing them from Elements 6, 13 and old Photoshop CS3. It just weird seeing that garbled looking text on the top of splash screen only which really has no effect on the way the programs are running but would like to see it correctly. Thank you all, appreciate the help

Thanks for the update, Jancy. Are you seeing the correct number of featured presets now? Guessing you haven't heard back from Topaz support. Please let us know what they say about that text.

I heard from them yesterday to check my fonts and they are fine. I sent them back another email to inform them that it did not change the garbled splash screen header and that I uninstalled it redownloaded it and installed and its still the same. I disabled 3 fonts that had the yellow exclamation not the red warning which usually should not be a problem. Did not help with the weird Welcome header. Its just strange that the header in Topaz Textures is fine. I resent the email to them again today so hopefully they will have something else for me to try. Yes I do see all the presets and also did yesterday so everything seems fine in that respect only thing odd is that weird garbled header. It does not teem to cause any problems with the programs but it just bugs me! Maybe I shouldn't worry about it since it does work and just purchase it. Thanks so much for the help.
