How do you make lighting effects in PSE 14?

Berie,
Are you talking about the kind of lighting effects like the ones created by the Filter>Render>Lighting Effects? If so, . . . this filter was removed starting with Elements 12. It can be placed back into this version if you are on Windows but not if you are on a Mac because Elements 12 on a Mac is a 64-bit application. It cannot be placed back in more recent versions of Elements (Windows and Mac) either. Another possibility is to reinstall an older version of Elements if you happen to have one.
If you give us more details on what kind of lighting effects you have in mind, we may be able to come up with some suggestions.

I discarded my old PSE's when I was having trouble with not enough memory. Now I wish I had one of them back.
I want to put a highlight on a persons head (think Rembrandt). Or maybe make the light look like it was coming in a window (think Vermeer).
Any suggestions?

I was just told I can get the older versions of PSE if I have my serial number and Adobe lists all my serial numbers! Now all I need to know if what was the last version of PSE that included the light adjuster. I can't remember what it was called.

Berie, as an alterative means for creating lighting effects you may want to consider downloading the Nik Collection from Google which is now totally free. It contains a program called Viveza which allows you to selectively make adjustments (like brightness) via the placement of 'control points'. I downloaded it a couple of weeks ago and have thus far found it to be quite powerful software that produces some amazing results relatively easily. Here is the link where you can find it: www.google.com/nikcollection/
