Firstly thanks to Helen for organising and coordinating Image of the Week. This is my first time judging and I have really enjoyed it. Sorry I am a day late posting this. My shortlist is alexr with : Inside the Basilica di Santa Croce, Florence. It is so hard to take decent pictures inside cathedrals and churchs that convey what the eye sees when you are there yourself. Alex has pulled off a beautiful HDR image with the stonework, pews and stained glass windows all perfectly visible without being overcooked. angelag with ‘Textures added via Topaz Texture Effects’ This pink flower works really well against the background even though the shades across the whole image are so close, I would never have thought to make my background so close to the image colour so they almost merge but I think it looks super. Wendy with Sunrise on Chester Road The lens flare you have added Wendy is inspired and has made this picture pop, I would have (mistakingly) cropped the sky out but you have taught me to think again about different ways to process my images. …my Image of the Week goes to:drjoerogers with Still standing tall. I have tried so many times to get a decent sketch effect using PSE and I think this is brilliantly executed from the subject choice to the slight amount of blended sky this looks great.

You did it, Mark! Superb job! No one would guess it was your first time judging. Wonderful selections and commentary!
Alex, Angela and Wendy thanks for sharing your beautiful images. Special congrats to Joe for sharing another one of his sketch effect images that captured this week's top spot.

Mark Many thanks for including my textured flower among you picks for this week. Your kind comments about each image were much appreciated. Congratulations to Alexr and Wendy, and especially to drjoerogers for his well-deserved Image of the Week. That's a masterful sketch! agg

I am finally getting a chance to log in and catch up on some things I have missed over the last month or so - the IOW being one of them. Terrific job with your first stint as a judge Mark. Your selections are all worthy images. Congrats to Alex, Angela, Wendy and particularly Joe for the wonderful images you have presented us with this week!
