Welcome to this week’s IOW presentation. On display in the galleries over the past week have been some fabulous submissions from our members. I enjoyed perusing them all once again this morning with a cup of coffee in hand whilst I made my final selections for honourable mentions and the image of the week honour. And, so here now I present to you my personal choices for this week as follows:
Honorable Mentions (in no particular order):
Clivia – PeteB
I found this to be such a bright and cheerful image with the abundance of yellow, orange and green hues and the way the flowers and leaves so nicely fill the canvas. And the choice of a colour coordinated and textured background blends so well and works perfectly to make the flowers and leaves stand out. A top image!
The Windmill - christell
I typically love silhouettes against a sunrise or sunset and this image was no exception. And while it would have been fine with just the windmill, the little boy reaching up to it gives it that extra bit of spark. Add to this the fleeting vestiges of a well captured sunset (or was it sunrise) with the lovely orange and blue tones and this one is absolutely magical!
study time – deany
A thought provoking composition, I found this image quite intriguing, especially with one of the candles recently extinguished (as evidenced by the smoke rising fom the wick) and lying on its side while the other candle is upright and lit. I felt the choice of a yellow colour cast and heavy contrast worked together to make this a very artistic image.
Image of the Week:
An animal's eyes have the power to speak a great language – jjr1770 (Judy)
What an incredible capture of the deer which almost appears to be posing for the photographer. For me, what really makes this image so complete and stand out is the perfect selection of background texture which was chosen for the image. Its warmish tones are in keeping with the colour of the deer and go a long way in conveying a soft and gentle winter scene. I love this image! Step up to the top of the victory podium Judy and take a well deserved bow

As well as congratulating this week’s winner, Judy, and honorable mentions, Pete, Christell and Dean, I want to say thank you to everyone who made submissions to their gallery this week as your creations are a treat to the eye and never cease to amaze me! Wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead – hope it is filled with lots of smiles, sunshine and great images
