Here's one way:
1. Create a copy of the layer (ctrl or cmd+J) 2. Filter, Blur, Average 3. Create a levels adjustment layer, then 4. Select the gray eyedropper, click on the Blur, Average layer 5. Delete/turn off the visibility of the layer copy you created in step 1

Yesterday, I was walking through a rail yard in off-and-on drizzling rain, taking pictures; due to the heavily overcast black cloudy conditions, I set my white balance on "cloudy". When I stepped into the brightly lit depot, I forgot to change the white balance; and, thus, all my inside pictures are entirely orange. I followed the provided instructions and was amazed to watch the orange disappear. I would never have stumbled upon this method in a thousand years; in fact, I would not have imagined it would work, but it does. Thanks for the instructions.
