Another week and another IOW. Thank you to all the members that have uploaded works to their gallery this past week.
First up is fotofrank with tree roots - The B&W treatment is ideal for these gnarly roots; it shows of the shapes and textures very well and creates a sense of mystery and darkness all at once.
The second image is from Sydney - These summery flowers are just what the doctor ordered on a grey and snowy day. The textures applied to this image work really well and make the flowers pop off the page.
And the last honourable mention goes to christell for her Bird on a Branch - I really like the treatment applied to this image of a heron; really nice and abstract, but enough detail has been kept to ensure the viewer knows exactly what they are looking at.
And finally, the Image of the Week goes to dandc for his image entitled Around the Bend - Firstly, I love the leading lines of the track and the perspective they were shot at; it takes your eyes right from the front of the image to the back and around the bend. Secondly, the post processing is fantastic, not only does it bring out the different textures of the image, from the tress, down to the pebbles/rocks, but it also conveys a sort of loneliness and isolation.
Again, thank you everyone for submitting your images, please continue to upload them to your personal gallery, including any creations from the various challenges on this forum.
I also want to use this opportunity to bring to your attention Helen's call for new judges. If you have never done this before, don't be afraid to step forward and volunteer. This is a great way to look at a vast variety of images and share your favourites with the rest of the membership. There are no qualifications required, and as this is a very subjective friendly competition you can choose whatever pleases you from the submissions in your given week. So, if you want to join us, please contact hmca and she will give you all the information you need. And don't worry, the rest of the judges are here to help you should you need any help whatsoever.
