Welcome to this edition of the Image of the Week. It was indeed a pleasure perusing all of wonderful images on display this week which were an interesting assortment. Thank you to everyone who contributed to their gallery. After much consideration, here are my selections for this week: Honourable Mentions (in no particular order): Sunrise over Port Philip Bay – jackscrapI like the simplicity of this image with the lone channel marker, the hazy sunlight and its reflection on the water and the warm tones. A very soothing and serene image. Boiling Sap – BerengariaThis is another image I quite like for its simplicity as well as for its minimalist colours and framing. While it is essentially a stark winter image it also conveys a comforting sense of warmth with the smoke wafting from the chimney. St Paul’s Cathedral – dandc
To me this is a nicely crafted hdr image with just the right amount of local contrast employed to bring out texture in the cathedral without going overboard. I think it works perfectly as a black and white image. It is also well composed with the column framed in front of the dome and the dramatic sky. I think it would look great in a frame hanging on the wall. Image of the Week (IOW): ANOTHER WORLD – christell
Wow, what an amazing and unique image that's out of this world! Certainly a novel perspective and interesting take on the scene. A definite A+ from me for the creative approach taken to achieve this image, hence the reason for my selection of it as this weeks IOW. And so you have it for this week. Wishing everyone lots of smiles, sunshine and great images in your part of the world Sydney

I'm so glad you liked my Boiling Sap picture. It is a personal favorite of mine....our land, our beautiful old maple trees, and Pep's (my nephew) sugar house nestled so snuggly in the snow. And no textures for a change. Not even the snow flakes. Just a very little basic editing. Thanks Sydney.

Congratulations Christell for your imaginative and beautiful IOW (always a good thing when a viewer wants to pause and ponder how something was created). Congratulations to Berengaria for a beautiful scene wonderfully presented . . . to find out that minimal processing was needed only makes it more spectacular. Kudos to Jackscrap on your stunning shot. Thank you Sydney for including my photo as well as your kind comments.

Gosh, everyone, what a great and inspirational set of images. I can't recall of a single week where the quality has been so high, I'm so glad it wasn't my week to choose! And then rounded off with Sydney's perfectly judged comments. The IOW at its best!
