Image of the Week March 19 - 25, 2018

Looking through the gallery this past week I easily found many images that I “liked”.  However, when it came to selecting a few to highlight, it was not such an easy task.  So I went back and found the images that had really made me pause when I first viewed them.

My first thought when I saw Spring day 1 by drjoerogers , was that I wished it was bigger!  I found myself studying how carefully it was composed.   From the grassy mound in the foreground my eye quickly moved on to the falls backed by the forest trees.   Every element in this image contributes to the overall scene.

Home is where you hang your….. by dandc ,  is one of those images that has impact because of its unique subject.  I can’t help but wonder how many people might have walked right by and never noticed the nest cradled there. Good eye, Dan!

Every once in awhile I try to photograph a still life. I find it to be a totally frustrating experience. Trying to figure out what to use, where to place the items, how the light will fall and how to make them all work together is mind-boggling. I especially like the wooden box that deany used for height, and the way the gauzy material works with the colored glass. Cobalt is beautifully arranged still-life.

fotofrank is frequently adding images to his gallery that go beyond straight photography. In Right Turn Palace of Versailles we see not only a clever photo manipulation but the choice of a perfect image for the effect.

IOW Award:

 Shot against a vibrant sky the pattern of grass huts and palm trees immediately caught my attention in Beach Dreams by @storkington .   A beautifully handled silhouette with universal appeal it is my choice for the week of March 19 - 25th.

WOW, what a great IOW! Those beautiful warm clouds behind each palm tree are remarkable.
