Thanks for the beautiful dreamer last week Helen! This week I offer up this image of a clam shell and wait to see what endless possibilities it holds! (click for full-size image)

Nice light beams in Frank's and Lillias's offerings! How was that done?

I really like the shapes you added Rita; are they available somewhere?

Nice light beams in Frank's and Lillias's offerings! How was that done? Thank you Tom. In my case it is a brush from a set of free brushes called SS_light_beams from the Obsidian Dawn website. I just inverted the brush from black to white and applied a touch of blur. If you are interested and haven’t visited the Obsidian Dawn website before, it has lots of lovely brushes for free or if you want to use them commercially you can pay a small fee for the licence.

I really like the shapes you added Rita; are they available somewhere? Tom, the large figure was used before in a Challenge in the Village and I don't remember where it came from. Liked it so much that I thought it was worth a re-cycle. I constructed the small figure from it myself. The "spaceship" is a deformed Spidron, a mathematical construct. You can find pages of them on Google Images.

The Sun rays are from Luminar sun rays filter. A color overlay was added.

Nice light beams in Frank's and Lillias's offerings! How was that done? You can also create light beams/rays simply enough using the brushes that come with PSE (in my case PSE 14). In this image that I posted in another thread I used one of the brushes in the "Assorted Brushes" category (I can't remember which one). The posted image is B&W. The light rays stand out a bit more in the original colour image. I set the brush colour to a light yellow and then on a separate later painted splotches (for want of a better description) in straight lines radiating out from the light source. I then used Radial Blur to create the soft rays and adjusted the layer opacity to blend the rays into the image. You can create rays of any length and width you like by the way you paint on the original splotches.

Bailey your post jogged my memory as I seemed to remember there was a challenge using the method you have just described. I went looking for it and found it. Verber 10 a member here put up a challenge in the Creative Challenge Effect Board – Challenge No. 10 Creating Sun Rays - and he provided a link to an InfoPuppet video showing the process. The video can be found here if anyone is interested. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqunkT7N4Nw

There are also many other videos and tutorials on the www for anyone interested by googling something like "create light rays photoshop elements".
