NEW....Member's Choice Week!

A new feature is being introduced to IOW.

Images submitted to the gallery this week will be included in our first "Member's Choice" selection, an idea suggested by Bailey.

At the end of this week, I will create a post that includes all of the gallery images uploaded this week beginning today April 16th and ending April 22nd at 10pm EST.

Members will then have the opportunity to select their favorites and tell why they chose that particular image.  This should be fun and will give everyone the opportunity to highlight their favorite images.

Hoping many of you will take this opportunity to add a new picture to your gallery.  If you haven't started a gallery yet, here is information on creating a gallery.

Thank you again hmca for taking my suggestion on board, taking it to the admins and setting this up.

For anyone who missed the original discussion a few weeks ago, my thinking behind this concept is this:

1.  Since the IOW is not a competition, it would be nice to allow every member the opportunity to post why they chose a particular image as their favourite for that week.

2.  For members who prefer to not be put on an IOW judging roster for whatever reason (like me) they now have the opportunity to highlight their favourite image in any week an image jumps out at them as says "pick me, pick me!!"

3.  "Member's Choice Week" is similar to the occasional Poll Vote with the added benefit that you can't vote/pick you own image, members' IOW selections are not actually tallied and other members can now see the reason a member chose their IOW.  Looking at recent poll vote results, Member's Choice Week should provide a wide variety of IOW selections from members.

4.  Hopefully "Member's Choice Week" threads will be put into their own separate forum so that like the "Endless Possibilities" challenges, members can browse through past Member's Choice Week threads and post their favourite photo choice and the reason behind it.

How hmca and/or the admins set up the guidelines is up to them but fwiw, my 2c is something along these lines:

1.  Members can choose up to 3 images per week (as is the current case with single judge IOW)

2.  Although I am generally in favour of offering constructive suggestions where appropriate, I don't believe "Member's Choice Week" is the appropriate thread to do that.  There are other threads where it would be more appropriate.

3.  If a member has a query about how a particular image/photo was created then maybe that query should be raised in another appropriate thread.  Otherwise it's possible the Member's Choice Week thread could go off on various tangents which would not be my intention for this thread.

4.  If more than one member chooses a particular image as their IOW (as will most likely happen), then if the member's reason is different to what has been already posted then they may post their personal reason.  If the reason(s) is the same as already previously posted then for the sake of brevity they could simply "like" the original post for that image or submit their own personal post if they really want to.
 
Now I just have remember that ".....ending April 22nd at 10pm EST." = 12 noon on April 23rd, Melbourne Australia time

It may not be set up exactly as you propose, but members will certainly have the opportunity to choose and comment on the images of their choice.
