There is no longer a "next Sunday" posting deadline. You can grab your camera, take your photo, and post it in this thread any time you wish to.
Hi everyone,
Would you like to participate in the Weekly Photo Challenge? Just take a photo that is your interpretation of the theme and post it in this thread.
- Your photo(s) should be your own, i.e., they should not have been taken by someone else. - Photoshopping is allowed but should be kept to the basics only rather than a total transformation. - Grab your camera, experiment, and, most of all, have fun.
NOTE
This week’s theme was a joint suggestion by Dennis and Brenda -- dennis9 (Thanks, Dennis and Brenda!)

I chose this statue because it is unusually dynamic. What is this statue of a huntsman doing in such an urban setting? It is a nineteenth century fictional character called John Jorrocks, who in a novel by R. S. Surtees, made a headlong ride from Covent Garden to join the Surrey Subscription Hounds as they gathered for their hunt in Croydon. The statue was commissioned by a large firm of builders who were "developing" Croydon at that time. There was no unveiling ceremony because of fears of action from the anti-bloodsports lobby, so the statue was quietly installed in just one night. It has been there ever since, undisturbed and mostly overlooked. preview.ibb.co/jLoCPS/Croydon_1.jpg

I've always liked this Chippewa First Nation veterans memorial statue and have taken a few pictures of it since it was unveiled in 2003. Was fortunate today to have a more interesting sky than usual behind it. There are four figures - this one is Tecumseh. More about the significance of the figures hereTony

Thanks for the theme Dennis, Brenda and Sepiana. I'm in Eugene, OR, home of the University of Oregon, for a few days. Go Ducks!

Dennis, what a finding! And one with the bonus of great composition, sharp details! The history behind that statue is quite interesting. Definitely an "unusually dynamic" statue.

Amazing details! And, yes, a very interesting sky as a bonus. I found the information on that site quite interesting. It gives "meaning" to the different elements in that work of art.

Thanks for the theme Dennis, Brenda and Sepiana. I'm in Eugene, OR, home of the University of Oregon, for a few days. Go Ducks! Bill, what a shot you got here! So clear, such sharp details! Beautiful Duck indeed. Great job (as usual)!
"Go Ducks!"? No Beavers? I can almost guess which team you will be rooting for in the Civil War game.

This statue represents some of the early settlers to our area. A steamboat captain, a frontier farmer and his wife, a lead miner and a missionary priest.
Bob, great finding for the Statues theme! I really like that you took two shots (to enable us to see the sculpture from different angles) and zoomed in (to highlight its details). Very creative!
I am curious. Do you know who the sculptor is? Beautiful ark work!
A member had the same problem in another thread; the culprit was one extra step in the image uploading process. I am not sure it is the same situation here but you may want to check the "fix" I posted in that thread. (Dennis, you may want to check it too.)

Peterj , a very famous statue. This is a great shot -- clear, sharp. I really how you captured the statue details.

Flintabatty Flonatin Statue in Flin Flon Manitoba, designed by cartoonist Al Capp Wayne, great finding to fulfill this theme! I really like the angle you took this shot; it allows us to read the history behind the statue.
